This is wonderful, Connie. In the thumbnail view, it almost looks like a line drawing. I can’t tell if this is black and white or has the slightest hint of green remaining. Either way, I like it. I like the crop in general, but I would be tempted to make a tiny change, losing just a tish more off the bottom. This is just a screenshot so pardon the icons in the top left, but you get the picture (pun intended): basically losing some turbulence and the thicker horizontal sappling or branch.
Excellent, Connie. I like the juxtaposition of the water in the foreground and snow in the background which really tells that early spring story. I can see lots of different crops here that would work, but I’m not at all sure that any of them would work better.
Great composition with the reflections and the B&W conversion. Looking at it a little closer, there seems to be a bit of green in the leaves, did you just desaturate? For my personal tastes, it seems just a little too contrasty (I do like contrast for this scene). I find the branches in the water in the LRC a bit distracting, I would either clone those out if you are into that, or crop some off the right edge.
Thanks Dennis & Scott & Marylynne, you all were correct in noticing that there is just a hint of color remaining. I took the color version in to Siver Effects and in brining it back did a Luminosity Blend Mode with just a small amount of opacity to let a bit of it through.
I appreciate everyone’s comments,
Connie
Hi Connie,
This is quite lovely; the subdued colors remind me of a pen and ink drawing. I also like the vertical lines of the aspen trucks placed in a horizontal format. In addition I think the crop rework posted by @Marylynne_Diggs as well as cleaning up the LRC as suggested by @Scott_Fricke would work as well. IMO those small tweaks would make an already wonderful image even better. Very nicely done.
This is a lovely picture. The idea with the crop is is also good. It looks a bit like a barcode of nature (I´m looking since a long time for a scene like this, I´m jealous).
