The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.
Description
In the chaos of dozens of swallows nesting on the river bank, I was attempting to isolate the subject but still keep the pattern of nests to indicate the larger colony. The expression on the bird’s look also seemed reflect that isolation or loneliness.
Specific Feedback
I am seeking for feedback if what I am trying to convey is visible in this image. I am not sure if the colors/light work that well for what I was trying to achieve. The subject is not popping as much, but gives a sombre mood. Should I be messing with the levels and colors a bit more?

The look of the swallow and the lack of other birds does have a “where did everybody go?” look to it, Anuradha. The swallow pops pretty well to me, but I was at a photography lecture years ago where the presenter mentioned that he would select the subject (particularly the face) and give it just a bit more punch by slightly raising the exposure and warming it just a bit. I’ve found that it works very nicely to pull the eye right where you want it to go.
Very nicely done. I particularly like your choice of framing. Just enough to indicate that this is a massive colony and still leave the bird as the primary subject.
The bird has a wonderful expression. It would really be worthwhile if it stood out a little better from the background.
I find the composition very good and expressive.
I think this is an excellent environmental image. The repeating pattern of the surrounding nests works well. The couple of dark patches on the edges are distracting, but I’m not sure if there’s an ideal solution, crop-wise.
