The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.
Description
Not sure if this is in the correct category. I removed a layer of ice from a tarp that collected some rain and froze. I placed it on a garden area that has a lot of leaves on it. I used several different post processing tools to reach this result.
Specific Feedback
I just wonder if it appeals to anyone.

Damn straight it appeals. I’d print it and frame it if it was mine. The color combination is really outstanding - colorful and rich, but not strange looking given the blue shades. It feels natural yet odd at the same time and the textures are intriguing. How fantastic of you to see and realize what you could do with it.
This is really nice, Gavin. I love the palette as it’s simultaneously natural and unexpected. The blues are like verdigris on metal, but it’s the maple leaves that have the patina. To me, that, combined with the trout-like speckles make this a truly fantastic tapestry of color, shape, and allusions to all kinds of natural phenomena.
And it also has some echoes of Japanese or Chinese lithographic prints (I think it’s the palette and wabi sabi of it).
This is spectacular. I love the intricate patterns and the complimentary warm and cool colors. If it were mine I’d print it large and hang it where I’d see it every day. Great find.
Super cool. It does feel like fabric – a tapestry or a bedspread. It’s inspiring that you envisioned such a nice image from a routine scene in your backyard . That reminds me to keep my eyes open. I’d be curious to hear more about the processing you used to get this effect.
Hi Jim,
This is gorgeous! As others have already mentioned this has a oriental vibe to it which I find very inviting. The color palette also works quite well with the earth tones and the cool toned leaves. Very nicely done. Inquiring minds are curious as to how this was processed.
Many thanks for the EP. In response to your very nice comments (which are very much appreciated), I’ll attempt to provide my processing. I did not record any of it, so I can only try to come as close as I can. All of my post processing is done using a very old Canon ZoomBrowser EX (2014; upgrade 2017) and Elements 21. As I mentioned, I removed a layer of ice from a puddle on a tarp covering lawn furniture and placed it on leaves in a garden area. I shot several photos of the ice and leaves. I used ZoomBrowser to over sharpen and add contrast and lightness. I then inverted it using Elements 21. Somewhere in the process auto Smartfix was applied and texture (sand, I believe) was added. I did not use an overlay. There were some other steps, but when I tried to duplicate them, I was unsuccessful. Again, than you for the EP and the comments.
Lovely composition and design. The only suggestion I have would be to deal with the flatness of the image. And I’m not sure about that. I would play around with a print. Hang it up and see how it works over time.
Sorry I’m so late to comment, but “high five”. You have an excellent image and I liked the freckled background, and the texture on the leaves. The complimentary colours are very pleasing, even soothing. I have nothing but compliments:)
