The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.

Description

The color of the water at this point in the Metolius River in Central Oregon is gorgeous. I always have to try to capture the movement and color of it when I’m there and have a lot of images in my archives. I caught this shot when I was there in October and feel that it is my most successful one yet.

Very successful, Chris. I immediately thought of a whale or dolphin coming up for air in turbulent water. There’s so much motion in this image and it’s not at all chaotic. It all fits neatly as if it’s a puzzle. I love the shutter speed and the detail in the water movement. Perfection. I also love the colors in the water. But I really love where the darker blue meets the more turquoise water near the top of the frame (Near the blow hole). Great capture, Chris!

Not a darn thing I’d change about this one, Chris. It reminds me of something I’ve seen from an artist but I can’t recall who that artist was. There’s so much motion and wonderful little details to find, including the water color transition at top that David mentioned. I bet this would look really printed on canvas, where the texture of the canvas would give it a soft painterly feel.

Chris, you’ve done a great job of capturing a sense of action here. The transition to turquoise at the top adds a bit of extra interest. Your shutter speed looks perfect with a good mix of flow and splash.

This is wonderfully dynamic and full of texture. The blue/turquois color scheme is excellent. No nits, here.

Well done, sir!

Fantastic colors and motion in this, Chris. I really like it. I’ve been into triptychs lately, and I can imagine a triptych of these side by side printed big-ish on metal. It would be luminous and very watery looking

Chris: I love these kind of shots and can watch moving water for hours and not get bored. Terrific color palette and implied energy. Most excellent. >=))>

Hi Chris,
I am very much enjoying the dynamic motion of the water in this scene as well as the beautiful turquoise color palette. Your chosen SS also works quite well here as it has captured some lovely textures and details in the water. I do like @Marylynne_Diggs thoughts on making a triptych of these. Very nicely done.

Chris,

Very powerful and dynamic. I love that turquoise blue in the water. On my monitor there seems to be a bit of blown out water near the top left at the crest of that wave that traverses whatever is under the water causing the water to wave over it. I would try to slightly burn those areas down just a bit.

Thanks, Bonnie. Haven’t seen you on here lately and was hoping all was well.

@Youssef_Ismail @Marylynne_Diggs @Ed_Lowe @Bill_Fach Thank you for your wonderful comments and suggestions.

Yah, I haven’t been around much lately. We spent most of October in France, which was lovely, but I didn’t make many artsy type photos (took only my phone). I’ve been doing other kinds of art, too, so I haven’t spent much time on photography lately.

That sounds nice.

I just now saw this one and glad I did! It’s quite wonderful and I can spend a long time exploring all the movement! Congratulations on the EP!

Thanks, Diane.
