Torch Lilies, Columbia

I found these lovely Torch Lilies in a garden in Columbia this morning. The sunlight was very subdued due to cloud cover.

I am not much of a flora photographer, so any suggestions will be appreciated.

I used a different file and processed this one little differently. This file had more space on both sides and the top. I did crop just a bit from the top. I burned down the fence quite a bit, and tweaked the brights in the flowers that were hot in OP. I also warmed it up, and darkened the greens a bit.

Any thoughts on this re-work?

This is really nice, Preston. Great colors with the oranges and reds contrasting with the greens and worn wood. Maybe burn down the brightest highlights in the yellow area of the flowers? But minor stuff, very well done.

I like these lillies against the wood very much as well. I thought these were aloes before reading your description.

Excellent image. I like the simple color contrasts and the weathered fence helps bring all that together. Nice work on the processing.

Hardly worth mentioning… wishing for a wee bit more room on the left. very minor.

This is a striking image. I think the background suits these flowers. You might want to darken the fence a bit but not necessary.

Lovely, Preston. I like your choice of keeping a large depth of field to include the lines and textures of the fence. My only nit is that my eye pines for just a touch more room on the left and top.

Pretty good! I like the weathered board fence as a backdrop for the colorful Torch Lilies. Minor nit—needs a bit more room on the left.

The brown fence sets off the more saturated colors of the seond immpage you posed. Very nice image.

Preston: Sorry to be so late to the party but this looks pretty darn good from a landscape guy :wink: . The repost is a nice refinement on an already strong start. I too like the fence as a BG and the colors of the blooms are terrific against it. Most excellent.>=))>
