Transparent Pedals

Critique Style Requested: Standard

The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.

Description

Just walking around and I came across the plant and I noticed the leaves being real thin … So I shot a few frames and tried to bring that vibe in the image… If you look close you can see the leaves overlapping and see through the leafs. I thought Kinda Cool… As Always for Fun !!!

Specific Feedback

Maybe a better background.. I did get rid of a lot but kept the leaf in a soft presence on the right.

Technical Details

ISO 500 shutter 320 f 13 edit in Photoshop. My passion for B&W Photography has gone through the roof.

Gil: This is pretty marvelous IMO. Your tonal management especially looks terrific. My only compositional 1¢ nit is I would like some more room on the top so that the petals along that edge weren’t cut off. The room you have on the bottom suits me fine. Wonderful capture and conversion. :+1: :+1:>=))>

Thanks. I was very focused on getting the leaves to show their thinness and transparency. I am thinking of another crop idea to focus on the pedals.

Thanks again.

Nice one, Gill. The tones are fine.

Deciding how to frame a shot like this is difficult. I also would prefer a little more space at the top.

Very interesting and lovely with nice tonalities! It looks like one of the many variations of Hydrangea.

Gil, I agree with more room at the top. I really like this in B&W. Very nice tonal management.

Thanks. As I become more dedicated to B & W photography. I see things even more different than before. It’s been a long journey.

Peace to you and our Planet.
