About This Image

Well … Mark did suggest weeds…

Thought I’d get two dandelions in the frame of different ages, sort of Granddad looking after 4 year olds (topical), Granddad going to seed

Grandad had to lie on the grass for this one and had a bit of trouble getting up!

Feedback Requested

Does it work ? Suggestions ?

Just a simple idea I guess

Does it work??? Surely you jest! It is a master class in elegant simplicity – both the composition and the story! What more could I say?

Excellent image, Huw. Perfect composition and DOF. Simple and elegant.

Huw, yes, it does work, telling the story of dandelions aging and at the same time providing a sense of how much dandelions like the sun. I am thinking that I’d like the oof “sun” a bit further into the upper left as I find the darkness in that corner a bit distraction. Some dodging up there might work also.

Regarding Revision 1:

This absolutely works Huw - in fact, this is awesome! And kudos to GrandDad for getting down on the ground… Heck, this GrandDad has a hard enough time getting out of the patio chair… :rofl:

What a great nature story - and backstory. I’ve seen my share of Dandilions, but never really inspected them, nor seen such a juxtaposition between the very old and the very young. Greatly invisioned and crafted.

I love the original as presented, but the revision has its merits too.

Makes me regret now trading in my 90mm macro…

:grin: I’ve been there and done that! Really good POV and the shallow DOF is great for my tastes. I think I prefer the original although my first impression on both is that the youngster (aren’t they all this way) is grabbing a little too much attention. Perhaps a tiny softening/desaturation would put him in his place. OTOH, grandad looks pretty darn good despite his advancing age. >=))>

Thanks Bill - I’m not completely happy with revision 1 version either… I’ll have another play following your direction

I think the darkness round the youngster helps

Thanks++
