Two Meadows in Slovenia: Suitable for Framing?

What technical feedback would you like if any?

Any and all.

What artistic feedback would you like if any?

Your thoughts on each and how they might look together.

Any pertinent technical details:

(1) the meadow is a panorama of four stitched shots. Shot on a Sony a6500 with a 55-210 lens at 55mm. ISO 640. 1/200 sec at f/11. (2) the meadow with sheep is same camera and lens. Lens at 55mm. ISO 100. 1/60 sec. at f/4.5.

I’m posting two images ( because I’m thinking of printing them both (large: 20" x 40") to hang together, and seek comments on how they work alone and together.

I’d strongly encourage you to post the images here, not links. People tend to be pretty cautious about running off to links that they can’t verify before getting there.

Thanks, Keith. I tried posting the photos, but the files are too large. Since its a pano, I couldn’t make it small enough to post. Matt

Hi Matt:

I understand that your desire is to print them large, but you can still resize them down to a reasonable size to get the kind of input you’re seeking. I posted a pano a couple of days ago resized to around 1800 pixels on the long edge and it displays just fine. Give it a try if you’re so inclined.

The key is going to be reducing the quality, no matter how large the pano is if you set the quality to 6 or 60 between 1500-3000px you won’t go over the 10mb limit.

Matt, I haven’t opened your link, don’t like to do that. But FYI, I have posted several images here, most of them around 1800px long side up to about 2mp file size, and the details are excellent! Good for the most stringent of pixel peepers. Once you have posted directly onto this site, then I’ll have a look.

Thanks Bill, David, and Keith! The images are posted.

Also, please note that these photos were taken on Erik Stensland’s Croatia-Slovenia photo tour. That, my friends, was a blast!

Thanks for getting the images here. Makes is much easier to review/comment.

You have 2 nice images. I’m sure they will both print just fine as the sizes you’re thinking. For landscape photography, it is all about the light. Both of these are nice, but the light is pretty high in the sky, observed by the shadows under the trees. Up to you if you want them on the wall.

I’d look at removing the 2nd part of a sheep from the left as it doesn’t add to the image.
I’d also look at the fence posts along the bottom of the meadow shot, especially the ones closest to the edge of the frame.

I agree with Keith’s comments. I wish there was a little more space in the foreground of the meadow/village image–it feels a little tight.

Keith’s points about the light are spot-on: careful printing, especially for the high values will be called for.

That’s wonderful looking country.

Thanks for the input. I also wish I’d captured a bit more FG in the meadow.
