Excellent focus and exposure on the wasp and the lighting works for me, Huw. I kind of wish the end of that one bud/fruit didn’t touch the top of the frame, but I don’t know if you could find an better place to crop-these kinds of clusters aren’t friendly that way.

I picked the revised version of Wasp and Snowberry because the subject is in active flight along with context for a complete story. Vespid wasps, like the yellowjacket pictured visit flowers and fruit as a food source at the end of summer. The subject is crisp and the wings’ motion are frozen in time. Yellowjackets, although brilliantly patterned with yellow and black are wonderful subjects for the macro-photographer but are often avoided by macro-photographers due to their abundance and somewhat aggressive tendencies. A wonderful image showing an insect prowling for food.
