Weekly Challenge #985 (04/18/21 - 04/24/21) Local Icons - Belper North & East Mill

This Mill may not be internationally known, but it is part of the world heritage site, as the North mill (smaller building) was was built in 1804 by his son, William Strutt, on the foundations of the old mill and is one of the oldest surviving examples of an iron-framed ‘fire-proof’ building in the world. The North mill is the grandfather of ALL skyscrapers worldwide due to it’s construction method.

The East mill Behind shown here is much more like the ‘brick’ clothing mills of the midlands and was built as you can see in 1912, sadly is now nearly empty.
