Where's Mom?

A young, inexperienced doe gave birth to this little one and his twin sister in the middle of our driveway last spring, and left (as they often do) . I knew she would be back for them and didn’t interfere, but, in the meantime, I worked in the garden and kept an eye on them.
After an hour of laying motionless (below) curiosity got the better of him, and he started exploring the yard.

Very cute fawn, Sandy. Those paving bricks don’t exactly provide the best camouflage for the little guy, but that’s pretty safe place.

our property is quite private and safe, but I’ve still never seen a newborn fawn left out in the open like this.

What a sweet shot! Love the look of the little guy. I’ve watched many newborns near my home in Colorado but they’ve always been left in the trees/brush. Unusual!
