The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.
Description
Was out looking for birds and came across a field of these teasels, backlit. You’d think there’d be a least one goldfinch feeding, but I’ve yet to see a single bird amongst the teasels.
Specific Feedback
Don’t do much floral, so I’m interested in your feedback on this.

I like it - it’s nice with the square aspect ratio and I like the prominent bokeh balls that work well to soften that prickly subject. It has great dramatic backlighting that really makes the subject stand out. Good sharpness where it counts (ouch). Can’t quite understand what the light speckling is throughout…was there a sprinkler going? another big spider web with stuff in it? Bad noise reduction? It’s hard to figure.
Thanks for commenting, Kris. I was puzzled by this as well. No sprinkler. I don’t think it is noise, though I did try NR to see if that would help and NR failed completely. First time that I can recall that DxO made the image worse; so, no NR on this image
Beautiful backlit image, Allen, with excellent processing to keep just a hint of detail in the darker center of the seed head. The light specks certainly look like water. They’re definitely not noise, but they don’t detract from the image for me wherever they come from.
Allen: Love the bokeh in this and the backlighting. Pulling up the darks in the seed head gives a slightly different feel and I’m not sure it’s better but back to you for your consideration. As for the specks, that is a puzzler. Doesn’t look like the usual sensor dust. Are you seeing them on other images? I had some unsightly spots on some of my images and thought it was from dust on the sensor but it was clean. I found some stuff on my teleconverter and voila, the spots disappeared. Hope you solve the mystery but overall this is a fine result. >=))>
Fine image of a well-seen subject. The bokeh is a terrific contrast to the sharply textured teasel, which is itself a wonderful contrast to the web.
I wondered if the darkening the BG would better keep the viewers’ eye on the teasel. Also applied a Raw layer with NR to BG only which got rid of many of the tiny spots.
