About This Image
In the early morning at Rocky Neck State Park, the sun comes right at you, in the back of the march. Having read how great backlighting can look, I thought I would try it. I worked on the kick of the water, what doe think?

Technical Details
Z8, Nikon 180-600mm & 1.4ext, f9, 840mm, 1/2000,ISO 720, cropped and processed in DXO PhotoLab9. I used masks on the water, background, and Egret to control the high whites.

wow - hard work with feathers so white!
Middle one with beak towards us is my favourite!

What a threesome! I love the " not so usual" poses. You’ve handled the whites well and I think you have succeeded with the backlighting pretty well.
I like the second pose as a favourite, but wish that those lovely feathers didn’t merge into the hn the water. I think the third could use a touch of CW rotation?

Thank you for the comments. Glenys, I set the rotation based on the Egret’s legs, from the foot to the hips.

Love the middle one! Bokeh in the water is so great on all of them.
Well, Peter, I must admit, I have never levelled an image based on legs and hips. I’ll be sure to check that out in future.
