Zion mud tiles (updated with videos)

Echoing all the kudos of the previous posters - this image is stellar.

Also I love the two people on BMWs that just go through and sort of shrug it off. Typical.

Here’s a rework with some of my suggestions.

That’s sensational, Igor. Can I ask you what you did? I think this is a large improvement and would like to see about a fix and then a print. Thanks for taking the time.

As for the huge amount of water flowing through those canyons, I agree. It’s where I hike when I go to Zion. Those videos were shot several minutes after the major part of the storm has subsided and it was barely raining but I couldn’t shoot video when it was pouring. It was actually a little on the scary side.

  1. In Camera Raw I moved tint +25 to the magenta.
  2. In Photoshop: Level adjustment layer center to 0.88, no mask
  3. Levels adjust mask on leaf only, to 1.19
  4. HSL adjust mask on leaf only, saturation to +23

I’m glad you like it. It’s a treatment that’s common these days. Exaggerate things slightly for impact and try to not overdo it.

I love it. Thanks for the processing help. Beautiful. I just posted yours at the top of the thread.

As so many have already said, this is an awesome photograph! I love everything about its colors, textures and composition and the little leaf just makes it that much better!

This would have been perfect if you hadn’t placed the leaf there.

I got a kick out of your comment, because I remember once posting a photo from Bandon with a gull in the sky and someone commented that I didn’t need to add that. When I asked them if they meant that I should clone it out, they were surprised it was in the original.

Back to the image, sorry for the delayed response but I really wanted to circle back to this one. I just love it when the thumbnail grabs my eye and I have an “Oh My!” moment. It makes me eager to open the image for the full experience, and this one does not dissapoint. I love it! I think it is fine as is, but could see adding a touch of Igor’s version too. Regardless, this one’s a home run; well done!
