I became interested in photography in 1974 and bought my first SLR, a Pentax Spotmatic 1000 with just about all that was in my bank account (less than $200). Most of what I took were snapshots, documenting what I saw and where I went. I subscribed to the Time-Life Photography book series, receiving a new book every few weeks and, from then on read just about everything I came across. I continue to read magazine articles and online articles and watch videos that demonstrate new techniques, whether on capturing or editing an image. I love the digital world, especially the fact that I can edit my own images and not depend on a lab to get the effect that I want. I am in a perpetual state of learning.
I enjoy a variety of subjects but seem to be focused mainly on wildlife and birds for now. Otherwise, I am more likely to go for details, closeup and macro, than the wider angle scene. However, I am interested in improving at whatever I do.
My husband, Tom, and I live in Aurora, Colorado. We enjoy hiking, driving to the mountains, visiting wildlife refuges, state and national parks, and our kids and grandkids in other states.
