I am a photographer from New York and Maine. From my early years, I began to love what the photographic image could do. It was almost magical to be able to get what one saw through a camera into print. The wonder of this feeling stayed with me. Before turning my creative pursuits entirely to photography, I had a career as an advertising art director and had the opportunity to work and learn from many different photographers.
My photographic work has appeared in various newspapers, journals and photographic exhibitions throughout New York State and Maine, including the Terrain Gallery in NY; Lake Champlain Weekly, NY; Frontier Gallery, Brunswick, Maine; and the cover of Maine Fish & Wildlife Magazine, as well as Currents, the Magazine of the North American Nature Photography Assoc. I am a graduate of the School of Visual Arts in NYC and continue my formal study of art and life at the Aesthetic Realism Foundation in SoHo, NY.
My work is very much inspired by this important principle of Aesthetic Realism, the education founded by the important American philosopher and critic, Eli Siegel: “The world, art, and self explain each other: each is the aesthetic oneness of opposites.”
I love photographing landscapes and wildlife because of the deep excitement and awe in meeting a world with such variety and richness. I strive to visually connect a person with the essence of the scene encouraging emotions of both wonder and a feeling of familiarity.
