Simon Cox is a photographer and an artist. He has worked in both the Public and Private sectors in Information Technology since 1982. His hobby however, has always been photography.

His passion for photography began back when he was 10 years old. Shooting, developing and printing black and white film from a Box Brownie. Years later, Simon went on to enter in Local, National and International exhibitions, winning various awards and acceptances. He further developed his skills in the digital age by undertaking a diploma course in advanced digital photography.

He is also an accomplished desktop publisher, having produced a range of catalogues, magazines, flyers, show books, posters and even a newspaper.

He was a volunteer guide at Western Plains Zoo in Dubbo, NSW for a number of years, and later took on a weekend job as a professional tour guide and tour coach captain.

Simon is not only a nature photographer, but is also passionate about landscape and street photography. He was Rockhampton’s Light the Night official photographer for a number of years and has tried his hand at many different types of photography.

He enjoys teaching Film Noir locally to camera clubs. His easy going nature has seen him create a variety of powerful and outstanding images. Some of which have been published in journals, magazines and even an Indian Newspaper.

Based in Zilzie, Queensland, his recent photographic travels have taken him to Great Britain, New Zealand, Spain, India, USA, Canada, Philippines, Singapore, Vietnam, Thailand, Borneo, Bali, Myanmar, China, Costa Rica, Botswana, Namibia, Tanzania, Madagascar, South Africa, Zimbabwe and all over Australia.

He is a member of the Australian Photographic Society. Where he is the editor of the Monitor and a Councillor for the Digital Group. He is a member of the Nature Photographers Network. He was one of the founding members of the Keppel Coast Camera Club, where he was president for almost a year. He is now a current member of the Rockhampton Photography Club. Then in 2018, he became a member of the Emu Park Gallery.
