Hey! I’m Brad, and I am a photographer and writer based in the hills of Mid Wales. I have been photographing the landscape for the past six years after picking up a camera to ‘see what I could do with it’. I was in a period of transition in my life following the end of a relationship, and I decided to venture out into the natural world to find my solace and deal with my pain.
Stepping foot behind the camera was like returning home; a place that was unfamiliar to me following some turbulent and chaotic childhood years. I quickly found sanctuary outdoors in the natural world, and the art of photography helped to completely transform my life.
I have been writing passionately about my creative journey on my website’s ‘Journal’, and this side of my practice has been equally as important as the adventures into Nature with my camera in hand.
Photography has been the catalyst for immense personal and spiritual development over the past few years, and I am grateful to have had my photographs and words published in multiple magazines in recent times. Most recently, I have been published in the autumn 2024 edition of Nature Vision Magazine with an article titled, ‘A Dance Between Thought and Being’, and I am due to see my essay ‘Learning to See Again’ in an upcoming issue of On Landscape.
I am deeply interested in photography as an artform, and I am a torch-bearer for this wonderful practice as a modality for healing and transformation. I share my personal experiences in the hope that I might inspire other people to reconnect with the spirit of Nature at a time when we, as a collective, most need it.
