A lifetime denizen of Los Angeles, I grew up hiking the Santa Monica, San Gabriel, and Sierra Nevada mountains, and body surfing the beaches of Pacific Palisades. Out of high school I worked in a photo lab and in commercial studios, did photojournalism, editorial, and other photography that kept the doors open, until I couldn’t keep the doors open anymore. Went to college at 30, got a PhD, taught and did research at UCLA, and rediscovered photography around 2010. That was the beginning of the end of my academic career. I now shoot mostly landscape and nature, but I am up for just about anything.
