I live and work in Copenhagen, Denmark, together with my family. I enjoy photographing intermediary and intimate landscape scenes that are mostly found in my local area. Black and white images appeal to me, partly because their tonalities provide a rich visual language with evocative power, partly because black and white imagery offers extensive freedom to develop personal interpretations of the scenes in question, and partly because this visual language is exceedingly capable of communicating such personal visions to others. Still, my images are closely tied to reality, and my post processing is basic and respectful of the integrity of the scenes captured.

In my day job, I work in the field of academic philosophy. Although it is tempting to connect these two interests — photography and philosophy — I find that landscape photography is most interesting and valuable when its visual language stands on its own and communicates experiences that transcend the cognitive and linguistic boundaries of philosophy. Nevertheless, it would be misleading to claim that philosophical inclinations play no part in my photography: Although philosophy plays no part in any previsualization of an individual image, it surely plays a part in regard to the values and metaphysical sensibility with which I approach the natural world.

Apart from NPN, I do not post my images on social media, since I have become increasingly skeptical about the current dynamics of these media and their impact on landscape photography as a genre, on our relationship to the natural world, and on the natural world itself. However, I enjoy printing my images and discussing such prints with other photographers, as well as participating in fora like NPN where there is genuine and generous dialogue about landscape photography.
