We were in the southern Kalahari searching for unusual wildlife when our guide tracked down this pangolin. It was great fun watching him trundle about, often on his two hind legs like a tiny T. Rex. An amazing blessing to see in the wild in good light.

I would appreciate any comments regarding overall composition, lighting, color. Any suggestions on how to make the photo better are always welcome.
Wow, what a great encounter and capture. My initial impression was prehistoric life form! I love that the right front leg is up in the air showing movement and the impressive foot prints/tracks add a bit of drama, like this is a real beast! I might want to play with darkening just a tad the pangolin’s shadow underneath just to create a bit more separation and contrast from the sandy terrain. Otherwise an amazing capture and creature!
Sensational getting this guy in good light, actually any light at all because aren’t these usually seen at night? A rare encounter for you guys.
I too love the feeling of movement and motion but having that one foot up in the air. This is also such a rare capture I hate to not pick but my only wish would be to have a better look at the face and not have the animal walking away from you. Regardless, what an encounter and I’m sure something you’ll cherish for the rest of your life. Well done.

Amazing sighting. Looks like a younger animal. I love the definition in the scales, and of course, the red sand provides a lovely complementary setting.
Amazing find! Perfect timing on the frame as it make the pangolin really look like its walking and not just standing there. Its amazing to me that we can still find animals on our planet that look prehistoric.
Such a rare and threatened animal - you caught it beautifully. It would be easy to remove that blade of grass across its face, if you wanted to. The setting is so striking too.
