Blacktail Black Wolf - New Order

Looking Back

Resting for a Spell

Pawsing for a Look

Critique Style Requested: Standard

The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.

Description

We had just passed the Blacktail Pond Trailhead on a wet misty early morning when we saw a very dark animal walking way out in the sage brush. We initially thought it was a black bear. Then we figured out it was a big black wolf just out for a stroll through the sage. We pulled off the road after rounding a curve and parked on a little hill to watch. The wolf came straight toward us, and crossed the road about thirty feet behind our van. It continued on up the slope and when it got to the top decided to plop down and watch for a bit from the top of the hill before getting back up and continuing on over the hill. The wolf seemed to be looking us over as much as we were watching it.

Wow, what a great encounter!
Everyone of these is great, but I like the 2nd and third (pawsing!) best, with those eyes and yellow flowers. Nice detail and blacks -
Excellent series!

Thank you @SandyR-B. I appreciate your kind comments.

Nice series Ed. I really like the third image. I am a sucker for an over-the-shoulder shot. In this case the animal appears to be reluctant to leave. Well done!

@Garnet_Grosjean thank you for your kind comments.

@JRajput thank you so much for the EP!

So much of photography is being in the right place at the right time. I could comment on what I liked about each and what I would do to improve for my eyes…

You were lucky to be able to catch all … right place, right time.
