Breakfast Dilemma

![Breakfast Dilemma]
This heron appeared to be taken aback by the size of its catch. Several times it placed it on the ground and watched it. Only the arrival of a second heron persuaded it that indigestion was preferable to hunger!

Yikes, that is a full meal. Great catch of images, Michael.

Love the series of photos, Michael! This is so hilarious, I’ve seen them downing fish too big for them before and then trying not to upchuck! Really great action shots you captured! I could see this in a wildlife magazine.

That is a really good series. I don’t think herons have a gag reflex at all judging by that fish! Nicely done.

Hi Michael! This is a very cool behavior series, and good story to tie it all together. Amazing they can swallow that big of a fish! Well done!

Love seeing one catch a trout this big - wow! That’s quite a capture - glad he got it down. I like the poses and the overall series too. I think the images (especially the first) need some noise management.

That should hold the heron for a week, Michael. A fine series of images. The composition on the third feels a bit awkward to me. You might try a tighter crop with enough off the bottom to eliminate the legs and about half the body removed from the left.

Dennis,
I tried the crop as you suggested. The image doesn’t lend itself very well to an elegant composition. I tried several.

I applied some noise reduction,. Thanks for the suggestion.
