About This Image
I “spotted” this little guy out back yesterday. They are impossibly cute at this age.

Is the BG tree trunk too distracting?
Technical Details

You shot this photo with some tough lighting. You might want to try to reduce the very bright regions of the BG. Those big highlights compete with the subject. I downloaded your file and used Camera Raw filter to reduce highlights with the linear profile. It flattened out the contrast so I selected for the subject and did a curves adjustment on the fawn which added a little punch to the subject. The dark tree trunk is now less apparent and is an essential piece of the comp. There are probably more elegant ways of doing this, but it may give you some ideas on how to tame down extreme lighting conditions. Go back and rework your RAW file for better results than what I was able to do on your jpeg. Well done and a very cute photo-worthy fawn…Jim
