Very nice image! The hummer is very sharp and you have caught the eye apparently looking at the camera. In addition you have a nice catch light in the bird’s eye. Along with the nice features of the bird, the background goes well with both the bird and the plant stems. You have captured the bird in a position where he is nicely framed by the plant stems and finally, the buds on the plant stems add a lot of interest to the image. I have a couple of nits. First the dark spot in the upper left can be a tiny bit distracting. Next, there is a little something sticking out from the stem below the far left of the wing. (I am pretty sure that this is the first panorama cropped humming bird picture I have every seen.)
David, a really original shot - beautifully spotted. I hope you don’t mind, but just for fun I cheated a bit and added a rough-and -ready line to the “M” - I also removed the left hand stem ( though maybe you want I HUM - why not?):
I prefer the revision - bird is sharp - good contact with the viewer - more wing spread perhaps ?. Also I would try cropping a little differently - using the middle 20 - 60%
Good job on your revision, David. The brighter image lets everything pop. An interesting composition that works well with the attractive foliage and the well positioned hummer.
I love the revision, David. The original was wonderful, but the additional brightness brings it all to life. The stems are just fantastic and give us a nice sense of scale too. So many humming bird images isolate them, which somehow makes them seem bigger than they are. Here, it’s clinging to to these stems and brings it all down to size for me.
