Hey Mr. Photographer Take My Photo

Critique Style Requested: Standard

The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.

Description

Out and about and this guy walks up and says Take my Photo. So I did. I edited the best i could and decided to post this image …

Specific Feedback

Wildlife Photography is a hard style to do for me. I need to practice more and learn how to frame better and hopefully catch the subject in a better way. But I tried !!! Tried to edit in B&W but i didn’t feel it worked so I used Vibrance filter to keep the feathers kinda silver and color in his peak.

Technical Details

ISO 1000 f11 shutter 200 edited in photoshop…

I’m shifting the post to Avian gallery, as it belongs there.

Hi Gill, your processing gives an interesting and unique take on a Great Blue Heron. The silver look is surreal and intriguing to me.
I think the image needs more space all around the bird especially in front of it. Ideally the shooting angle would be less steep and more at eye level.

I really like your processing in this image, Gill. Almost an abstraction. I do think a touch more room all around the heron would be nice as it does feel rather crowded in the frame.

Thanks. He just walked by and I wanted to frame the entire bird and keep as much of the busy background out of the image. I felt the bird might get lost in the background I only cropped the bottom. I was very focused on him.

Thanks again.
