About This Image

I took this pano of Yellowstone’s Opal Pool to show off the contrast between the hot water and the snow and ice covered surroundings. It’s a pano to get all of the pool in one image and because I enjoy getting the glimpse of the Firehole river heading into the distance. It’s a late fall view which doesn’t fit the description for this week’s challenge but does fit the title.

Feedback Requested

It’s always fun when there’s an early or late season snowstorm blanketing Yellowstone as it heightens the contrast between the heat and the chill.

Mark this is a great image of Opal. I wasn’t particularly satisfied with any of what I got there, and I think the pano choice is a good one. Nothing to pick at for me.

This is an image where the title says it all. How hot is that water? I always worry that it it is pleasant, some yahoo will try to get in on a cold day like this…

Hi Mark,

The pano format works really well for this scene as does the symmetry with the snow surrounding Opal Pool and the rising mist makes for another wonderful element. It has to be a fun time to visit after a fresh blanket of snow from a snowstorm. No suggestions from me as this is nicely done.
