Self Critique

I like the stick behind the eagle. I feel it frames the bird in a very unique way. Much better than just a bird on a limb.

Creative direction

I think the negative space works here. Thoughts ??

Specific Feedback

Overall thoughts as presented and use of negative space.

Technical Details

Nikon Z8 1/2000 F8 ISO 400

Seems like images loose a lot when compressed for presentation on NPN. Looks perfect in LR.

Description

Bald eagle perched above a pond looking for the next fish to grab.

I do like the composition, Andrew. I think that stick does work and the pose of the eagle is very nice.

If the file you upload is too large, there’s an automatic algorithm that compresses it to keep things reasonable for viewers with slower connections. It’s known to be less than perfect. It’s best to use LR to generate a jpeg and upload that. The recommendation is 1500 pixels on the long side, but my camera club asks for 2048, so I’ve been using that and and I’ve never triggered the compression algorithm. the jpegs that LR generates at size have consistently been in the 1.5 to 2 MB range which is plenty small.

I like the composition as well, Andrew. I like the space for the eagle to look into and the vertical branch adds interest to the perch. I usually export in PS. File>Export>Export as and I can set the width, usually to 2500 pixels and that seems to work okay.

This is exactly what I needed. I appreciate the information. I want to jump back into the group and get my images looking correct. Lots to learn here and share. Plus inspiration. Thanks !!!

Nice pose and composition Andrew. I like the bird looking out over its domain with the negative space given here.
