Minor White Quote - Help with translation

I’ve always really liked this quote by Minor White:

“When you approach something to photograph it, first be still with yourself until the object of your attention recognizes your presence. Then, don’t move away until you’ve captured its essence.”

I’m having some trouble translating it into Portuguese because of what I think is a logical question, which I’ll try to explain below;
following grammatical logic, I should translate “…object of your attention recognizes YOUR presence” directly, but that implies that an inanimate object recognizes the (your) presence of a person, whereas translating it as “its/his” implies that the object reveals itself, and we simply have to wait for that “sign.” Here we are following Merleau-Ponty’s phenomenology
Does this question make any sense?
In fact, if we consider Heidegger’s metaphysics and Merleau-Ponty’s phenomenology, they do not resolve the problem—the manifestation of being and consciousness—in the same way, but I believe both would agree on the idea of the revelation of a work of art as an event of truth and the revelation of Being.

I’m not sure I’ve been able to explain my doubts very well, but what do you think?

Mutual recognition: Waiting until the object or scene “affirms your presence” speaks to a deep connection—whether photographing a person, a landscape, or a quiet object—where the separation between photographer and subject dissolves.

You may have to explain it rather than just try and translate. For me, its about taking the time to open your mind to allow the meandering of your thoughts and perceptions to gradually merge with the surroundings. To try and be perceptive enough to "allow the surroundings to talk to you " might be the way to translate it?
