Taken last Spring. The BF was just resting and willingly let me take a bunch of frames.
What technical feedback would you like if any?
Can’t think of any.
What artistic feedback would you like if any?
I could wish for less of the greenery, but that is what was there.

Hi Phil,
Not the best pose for photo capture with right wingtip losing focus. The blacks are exposed very well and colors are quite good. You could add a lttle more space up at the top if possible. Otherwise, leave the comp as presented…Jim
Phil, the details in both the Monarch and the foliage look great. The gold against green also pops very well. Getting a clear look at his abdomen is a nice bonus. For a magazine photo illustration, fully spread wings would be nice, but this is a good “real life” view that is good enough to hang and look at again and again. There is a dust bunny about halfway between his right eye and the right frame.
Thanks Mark. Your eyes are better than mine!
Phil, I’m in disagreement about the green. I thinks it’s a fine backdrop for the BF. Too bad the Monarch pose isn’t a little better. Techs look great and good choice with f/16 - best you could do considering that weird wing pose.
