About This Image
Last Tuesday, I said goodbye to my final group of travellers for this season. Together, we shared some wonderful, funny and truly unforgettable adventures in Tanzania. On our very last morning, we were treated to this beautiful golden light — the perfect ending to an amazing journey.
Ingrid, my first impression is that this is a sweet, rare moment and you captured it beautifully. I have no idea how you got such beautiful movement and color in the background but I love it. Ok, now I’m going to take a look at your description.
The Zebras have been coloured a little by the orange light on their shaded side, this may be what happened on the day in reality, but I wondered about reducing the colour a little which makes them really pop against the light.
I did this simply by producing a mask layer of the zebras and converting them to mono with a layer opacity of about 30% (you can play with how much , maybe just a suggestion of mono at 10%)
I don’t know what you think? Please ignore if not the way you want to go.
I’m not sure centering the “kiss” works for me. Because the shapes of the two zebras are significantly different, I feel like the body shapes and weight need to be catered to, crop-wise, rather than the point of contact. This feeling is probably enhanced by the dark patch in the upper left as well, but I feel like I’m not quite honing in on the appropriate points of emphasis because of the placement here.
I think this is a wonderful image, a moment captured in a glorious light… I like the posted version very much, and personally I would not change anything… But of course each of us can have slightly different views on the same scene. In any case, a beautiful moment.
