Ozymandias*

*A poem by Percy Bysshe Shelley

And on the pedestal these words appear:
‘My name is Ozymandias, king of kings:
Look on my works, ye Mighty, and despair!’
Nothing beside remains. Round the decay
Of that colossal wreck, boundless and bare
The lone and level sands stretch far away.”

More weathered and decayed monuments from Bonaventure Cemetery.

A very appropriate poem for this image, Phil. I like the black and white treatment and the water drops really take this over the top for me. Very well done.

Very haunting image and a most apropos poem. The B&W treatment and shallow DOF work quite well to further the mood.

Phil,

Most certainly the b&w use is great at telling a story and even enhancing it - with the weathered and apparently neglected conditions. Tonal range looks spot on and I’m wondering if more contrast would change the feeling or mood, message (not for the better either?) Great use of the selective focus and dof as well.

Sorry, but my poetic aptitude is pretty lacking so… can’t comment on the poem with any credibility…
