Quality improvement for night sky images

After being unhappy with the few Milky Way images I have managed to shoot, I figured out a way to do better. (Now I need to figure out how to be able to shoot more of them…) Here is an article summarizing my method. It solves two major problems – noise from shooting in low light and artifacts in the corners of wide angle lenses.

This is v5 – I hope that’s the final edit, but I have added quite a bit of information.

Where’s the article?
Nevermind I found it. It wasn’t obvious what to select. Initially the link took me to sign-in to Google. What would have happened if I didn’t have Google sign-in?

Sorry for the problems, @GEGJr! I seem to always be signed in so never know how much hassle it can be for anyone else. Google Drive may not be the best place to store tutorials but it’s the best I’ve found. Hope it was of some help!

Thanks for sharing, @Diane Miller

I have been very disappointed with my few milky way shots so I tried to access the file but I got an error message:

No preview available. File is in owner’s trash.

Maybe the link is for an older version?

Apologies, @Cathy_Proenza – try again – I updated the tutorial and didn’t get around to updating the link here for a few hours – scrambling with houseguests. If it’s still not OK let me know and I’ll fix it.

Hi Diane,

This what I see when using the link

Ah – clear the cache? That’s the old link. (Apologies for so much editing.)

And here’s another update – I hope the final one:

Let me know if this doesn’t work.
