Self Critique

I like the stark contrast between dark and light. I’m not sure if the darks are too dark.

Creative direction

I like to use infrared photography to play with light and shadow. For me, the subject here is the light emerging out of the darkness.

Description

I started infrared photography last year and really came to love how it can transform ordinary scenes into surreal ones, and how it forces me to really pay attention to light. This was taken on a sunny day where the sun was hitting a certain area relatively more than the surrounding areas. With the infrared camera and some post-processing tricks, it turned that into a magical scene

At first, I have no experience with IR photography.
Light and shadow would be fine for me.
The background is confusing for me, kind of blurry. Especially in the light parts. I don´t know if this is due to IR. Somehow these parts look like soft ICM. I assume this is your intension, to create surreal images.

Thanks for the feedback. I had a hard time deciding how dark to make the darks. I didn’t use ICM at all, but IR does create some softness, and I enhanced that in post. Yes, my intention is definitely to create surreal images. In any case, I’ll keep playing with IR more once there is more green stuff around in the spring. Thank you
