About This Image
We were in Chobe National Park in Botswana and early in our morning game drive we saw this Fish Eagle and Goliath Heron going at it over a fish. It was very short lived but quite fun to watch while it lasted.

The composition is great! The way the eagle seems to be almost going for the heron’s throat and the very close but separated poses appear to me just right and very dramatic. The surroundings are very busy…but that’s where they were. Difficult to blur them. I’d maybe darken the face of the heron a little, and possibly the eagle’s head too. But overall it’s a super action shot. Chobe is a place I’d love to visit, especially after watching the Pangolin Podcasts. Were you on the houseboat here?
Fun interaction. There’s something about these two species… they really don’t like each other!
I think you had some tough light to work with here, so you did pretty well with the exposure. I would tighten the vertical crop just a bit, at the very least to remove that distracting dark patch of grass on the right.
Really cool interaction photography. The only thing I think you could look at is lowering the saturation and overall brightness of the background, to birds more pop.
What timing Timothy! I thought it must be Ai (just kidding). That you captured just the right moment. I love it. What I would suggest is taking out some of the stalks of grass that are close to the animals. I could not name which stalks, but those that would make the main action stand out more. Again, congrats on such a shot.
