I caught this milky way shot a while back up near Yosemite a while back. I thought that the incidental blinking plane lights were “icing on the cake”.

Cool! I normally don’t like wide-angle distortion but it works here to focus leading lines on the MW and the dead trees in the center add a spooky vibe. Detail in the MW is pleasing – pulling out more would probably look too pushed. And the DOF got the trees and the stars sharp – I’m surprised f/2.8 did such a good job! Nice work!

The central Sierra is such a crossroads for airline traffic!

This is beautiful. I love these dusty green late season skies. I personally don’t typically like any signs of humanity in any of my photos, but the alternating colors in the light trails are pretty cool!

Hi Dave, it’s amazing how many planes fly over Yosemite Valley, isn’t it! I’m usually busy cloning plane lights and contrails out of my shots but the effect here is reminiscent of a meteor shower- really celestial and beautiful! I love the diagonal lines throughout and it’s a scene that makes me feel like I’m lying in a hammock under the stars.
