About This Image

Another life bird from my trip to Mary’s Peak the other day. I had heard there was a Snow Bunting up on the top, so this was a target bird. I pretty much stumbled upon it. I turned the corner in the road going to the top and almost stepped on it. Fortunately, it wasn’t bothered too much and stayed around the road for quite a while. The first image was taken lying on by back using my daypack as a pillow. These are more of a documentary shot as the setting is a gravel road, but very pleased to have seen and photographed this very attractive bird.

That first one with the low angle is far more than a documentary image, Allen. The glancing angle on the road disguises it very well and it’s a lovely composition.

The first image is very striking with the pose and ground-level POV. I like the soft lighting too and the sharpness and warm tones of the second image make it a very pleasing documentary photo as well. My only recommendation for the first image is to see whether you can pull any detail out of the bird’s eye. That will put the comp over the top for sure. Awesome set!..Jim

Hi Allen

Thank you for the Snow Bunting. I really like the head-on shot, with the head turn and eye contact. The overhead shot gives the viewer a good look at the Bunting coloring and feather detail. Nice work.
