The struggle

One more image from my redwoods trips 3 months ago. I came across the little tree that was hunched over and looking for all the world like it was a struggle to survive deep under the canopy of the redwoods…except there was this beautiful shaft of light coming through the canopy and striking this little tree. I thought it told a story of how hard it is for smaller trees to succeed in the dark environment of the redwood forest.

Love the lighting, David and the redwood forest. A wonderful image which reminds me of home. Nicely done.

Beautiful light and mood, David. The fog and backlighting combine to make a great calm mood. Looks great.

A wonderful scene, so well composed! The shafts of sunlight are brought out beautifully! I wonder about a slight contrast reduction for the bright ferns at the base – they pull my eye just a bit away from the little tree.
