The upcoming comet

Critique Style Requested: Standard

The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.

Description

Not looking for comments here but just posting this to call attention to a Discussion I started about the comet that will be visible for the next couple of weeks – in the morning sky in the east before sunrise the last few days of the month and then in the west after sunset in mid-October. (This is Comet Neowise, shot in the evening from our deck in 2020.)

Yes! I’m looking forward to it, I read that it might even be brighter than neowise!

I couldn’t see it this morning despite a low horizon to the east. It should have looked like a modest star with the tail very difficult to record and not visible to the eye, but there are pictures online (spaceweather.com) from Tenerife that show the head and a tail. It makes its closest approach to the sun tomorrow and then gets closer to Earth. Best visibility should be about Oct 12-13 in the west after sunset, with the tail being illuminated by light scattering from the sun. There are hopes it could be very bright then (as comets go). It will be farther behind the sun each evening, thus in a darker sky, but also speeding away from Earth.

Oooh, I like the dark sky in this one. It really sets off the comet.

I’ve never chased a comet before; I may have to work on that seeing this and all the great images from our current visitor.
