About This Image

Driving around, looking for something to photograph and there sat this Small little Kids Tiny House in some woods. So I had to go and photograph and see what happens … Love the texture and the abstract reflection in the window. I had fun shooting this little house thinking for the kids who play in it and the fun they were having…

Feedback Requested

Just a simple composition, Texture was the draw in this image… I love the old wood and tone. I left the slight trees on the left in the background thinking it gave this little house a place and some depth … Cropping it out felt kinda flat to me.

Hi Gill

I know you mainly shoot mono but mono really suits this subject which comes across really well. I like the way you have left the door handle which although a distraction adds tremendously to the narrative.

I like the window reflections and like you I think it needs the woods to the left to show the playhouse in the woods . I wonder if more of a square crop might work better if you have it ? The Ai version I created by adding to the left of your image to make it square with window central worked well to my eye anyway

At the moment the window and reflections are most dominant in the composition and such a crop makes it more about the cabin in the woods than the textures ??

I like the white handle and lighter top corner of the window balance each out. I can’t think of a crop that works that doesn’t include the whole height of the window, except the version below.

Visual Notes

[Crop] Crop makes more of wood and reflection.

Thanks. Nice cropping of my image. I think the handle works well and the window was a dirty mess which gave an abstract vibe. B&W has become my main style now. It’s the style that drew me into photography when I was a kid.

Thanks again. Peace to our Planet. :folded_hands::folded_hands::globe_showing_asia_australia::globe_showing_asia_australia::waxing_gibbous_moon::globe_showing_asia_australia::folded_hands:

I love this kind of rustic building shot, Gil. This is no exception. For me, it might help if we had a tish more to the left? I like the full height of the window. It gives me a better sense of the overall structure, though Huw’s suggestion gets nicely abstract too.

Thanks. It was 3 ft by 4 ft. Maybe a little larger. I love the wood and window and just the child like vibe. Just a fun little house. I took a couple shots of the latch. Spider webs and all. Kept it fun.

Thanks again.
