Tommy Thompson Park/ Re-emerging

This is from Tommy Thompson Park in Toronto, Canada. And urban park on Lake Ontario built on decades of infill where nature is slowly reclaiming the spit (and where the spit is providing an important oasis for wildlife). Most of shoreline is crushed concrete laced with rebar and old metal. It is not conventionally beautiful, but its beauty is in the entanglement of human and natural and what is emerging. This shot for me was all about shapes and shading. I want to go back and and play with this framing in different light.

The heft of that big concrete triangle stands out against the water behind it. By going to b&w, you’ve reduced the impact of the metal bits.
