Transitioning from a Desktop to Laptop with Monitors

Hi,
I’ll be transitioning from a desktop to a laptop with external monitors for photo editing. I’ve been out of the computer buying loop for a bit. I’m on the PC path as I use it for my regular job. Should I be concerned about the laptop display if I’m using external monitors for photo editing? I’m open to Laptop suggestions as well. A +/-$1500 price point would be desirable.
Thank You!

Hi Chris, If you are getting an external monitor I would say the quality of the laptop display is of minimal importance unless you do photo shoots for hire and need to edit photos away from your desk. I use a Mac book pro and a BenQ monitor and never bother with the laptop screen. I would recommend some sort of dock because laptops have limit ports.

Thanks, Doug! That’s good information. I was looking at a laptop, but it has a subpar display at 1920 x 1200, 45%NTSC, 300 nits, but the specs are great as far as the chip, video card, RAM, and storage. I’ll probably still shell out a little extra for a slightly better display even though it won’t be used for processing. I also have my eye on the latest BenQ SW242Q as my prime monitor. Thanks again, and have a nice Memorial Day weekend.
