Image Description

Walking through the desert on is always on the lookout for critters that can harm us, rattlesnakes, scorpions, etc. But the desert plants, even in their decay, can be a painful reminder that they have a defense system also. This desert detritus is at the edge of a collapsed saguaro cactus, damaged years ago by one of the wildfires in this area. Part of this cactus avoided being burned but enough damage was done to result in its loss.

Does this color choice work? would you choose a different tone?

I wouldn’t step anywhere near this, that’s for sure. A very neat close-up of all those cactus thorns, Marlin. I like the jumbled look and that I can’t tell if they’re growing on a live cactus or somehow scattered on the ground.
