About This Image

This little bird always scores high on my cuteometer. It’s common in Korea, and is usually found in flocks, often very large, twittering through the undergrowth in search of seeds. You can see some husks in the bill of this one if you look closely. I’m not sure why it’s called “Vinous-throated”. That makes me think it’s partial to a glass of Beaujolais!

Awww, I can totally see why it spikes the cutometer. What a round little bird and looks like it might be a gleaner, too, judging by the way its perching (thorns! oh my). Maybe they are sparrow-like, too, in the way they flock. The bg looks fine to me, but I wonder if masking out the bird you could reduce the exposure just a tad so it stand out more.

Definitely off-the-charts cute, Mike. That stubby little bill and the way the head merges with the body just trigger the built-in baby response. The detail is superb and I like the composition you chose. Excellent image.

Definitely a cutie, Mike. Good pose and detail and the background complements well with the bird. Composition looks good. No nits from me.

Mike, very nice photo. What a cute little bird! The colors and composition is great.
