Whale Dance

This is a stunning bronze sculpture by Jim Sardonis, titled Whale Dance, sited near the I-89 exit to Randolph, Vermont. As you can see it overlooks the Green Mountains to the west and the small village of Randolph in the valley below. If you travel to Vermont, it is an easy, energizing stop in almost any weather! He had earlier sculpted a similar set of tails of black granite which were also here, but ended up being purchased and moved to near Burlington where the backdrop is pale by comparison. I look forward to seeing Whale Dance often in 2023!

Nice memory of near home. I lived in NH almost all my life and remember seeing this often when heading into VT. Mostly on the bike since there are some great roads there (route 100 anyone?). Even though this is a commonly photographed subject, it’s nice to see it at sunset. Is there any way to get those trees out of the frame? I can’t remember.

I haven’t seen this sculpture before – it’s amazing and you found wonderful light for it!!
