This photograph was taken at the Four Mile River in Conn. You can’t see it in this frame, but there were 4 Snowy Egrets also fishing for breakfast, and they were catching all the fish. Thank you for stopping by.

Z8, Nikon 180-600mm & 1.4ext, f11, 430mm, 1/2000, ISO 6400. Cropped and processed in DXO PhotoLab 9.
With the heron gazing plaintively off in the distance, the title works well, Peter. I like the light sparkling off the water. I could see brightening the heron up a bit. Looks like a nice day on the river.
A very nice backlit image of the heron, Peter. I don’t know what all the bright debris on the river is, but it actually looks pretty cool in this image.

Despite now knowing there were a number of egrets present, I’m still really enjoying the sense of loneliness.. and maybe that’s not the right word, but from the perspective of the heron, I might feel like “I’ve got this place all to myself.” Of course that wasn’t the case, but that’s my impression.
No nits or suggestions really. The specular highlights help fill up the frame.

Thank you for the comments. When I first looked at this photograph, I had the Blue with a brighter body. I thought that was too bright, so I made it darker (original post; the lower post has a brighter body). Dennis, we have had a lot of rain, and that put all sorts of small objects in the water. The sun also helped my reflection off everything in the water.
