About This Image
Just wanted to capture this with the water drops I made and this writing spider. Looking for something different. To grab the Tone of this image and see what happens for fun. Kinda Cool. !!!

The BG is a little bit crummy for the image. The spider kinda gets lost. I tried to bring him out but not over edit. Hard photo to catch but I like the overall feel of the image. So I decided late night to post it. I kept it as natural as I could !!! Maybe a different crop in there.
Technical Details
ISO 2000 f11 500 shutter Edit in Photoshop. Lots of dodging to make the water pop out. and Dodging on the Spider. Highlight fader and contrast.

Nice grungy edit of the spider - the background brightness is difficult to remove but not impossible.
I used the healing brush tool to remove the white flower stem
I cropped in a bit to make spider and rain bigger in frame
Probably need to remove the white between the spiders 2 lower legs
With your treatment the spider and raindrops really pop!

Gill, the water drops really stand out here. The high contrast b&w make the spider hard to see, but I’m not sure that lightening her would look good. Removing the bright whites behind her (BTW, only female spiders make webs) helps a lot. Yes, finding a subject in “the right location” is a big part of the challenge of nature photography. Spiders and their webs are notoriously difficult and challenging. You’ve caught the wet web very nicely here.
Thanks. Yes pretty difficult subject to photograph. Posting this image was a good decision because of the great feedback I’m getting. Always learning and trying and sharing. The closer I got to him the more he shook the web. So I usually take what I get and keep it fun.
