Critique Style Requested: Standard

The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.

Description

I finally got the mouse infestation in my blind to the point where I felt reasonably comfortable spending some time in it this morning. I still need to do some grass trimming around the bathing pools and get some new perches up, but it’s functional. Nothing special in the way of birds today, but a few of the old favorites did show up.

Specific Feedback

I don’t have any particular issues with these. To me, they’re pretty common images without anything special going on. If you see something you think I should pay attention to to improve any of them, please let me know.

Technical Details

All images taken with Sony A1, FE200-600 + 1.4 TC. Goldfinch at iso 2500, the rest at iso 4000, around 700 mm, f/9, shutter speed at 1/1250 for goldfinch, slowly going down to end at 1/400 as overcast moved in. Preprocessing in DxO PureRaw 5, processing in LR & PS CC.

All nicely captured, Dennis. I particularly like the pose of the goldfinch, look as if she’s showing interest in something. Nice to get the drinking behavior and water droplet with the finch.

I like all of these Dennis. Nice head turns in the first two. Fine colors in all. Interesting to see the male purple finch getting a drink. Nice series.

Hi Dennis
Nice series of photographs. My top two are the first and second post. The eye contact sell the shorts.

Nice images! The goldfinches seemed to have avoided us this year - glad you have some. The purple finch back shot is cool - my favorite. I love the detail of back feathers
