A peak in The Wall

During a 36 hour stop over in the South Dakota Badlands, we only saw about 3 hours of sunlight. The mix of clouds and sky were a nice addition to this look at one of the towers in “The Wall” as we left the park.

Mark, a nice look at this large formation. The streaking clouds are a nice backdrop to the view…:+1:
Too bad the weather was against the planned outing overall. However, we take’m as we get’m and always try to make the best of any trip…:cowboy_hat_face:

btw: whenever I see images from the Badlands of SD I always think back to seeing Marty Stouffer crawling around in an underground rattlesnake pit filming their den with fighting males inside. YIKES…:snake:

I like how the clouds radiate from the top of the butte. My son is there today on his way to Idaho and it was snowing this morning.

Yes, the clouds are really nice and I also like the 3D feel in this image. Looks like a fantastic place and I wish I was there.

Mark,

The clouds really top this image off, literally! I’m wishing there was more, but I can see you’re zoomed all the way out already. Bet you’re wishing you had the wider lens. But that’s ok, just wide enough here for a nice composition and display of the formation.

No nits, well, just wishing for a wider view.

Looks like you made the most of your three hours of sunlight, Mark. We have to take the cards we are dealt. :grinning: I particularly like the way the clouds seem to radiate from the top of the butte. To bad you could not capture this with some early morning or late evening light. Nicely done.

I agree with others that the clouds really crown the peak perfectly. Well balanced between the action on the right and the brightness on the left.

Very cool clouds; they do add to the dramatic landscape below.

It may just be my monitor, but to my eye this has a slight yellow tinge too. If I add a curves layer in Photoshop and click “Auto” (I have my options set to “Enhance Per Channel Contrast”) I think the color change improves it.
