Hi Dan, really terrific capture getting both birds in good focus! Love the incoming straight on look at the top bird. Great in-flight pose! Exposure looks good but I think the whites on the wings of the top bird could be brought down and perhaps the whites on the head of the lower bird too. Either way this is a special capture. Well done!
Classic shot of a 747 heavy on final with a runway conflict with new guys training in the tower.
Dan, this has recall for me as I tested the flight line backup generator on a TACAN system at Elmendorf AFB. Watching the C-130 & C-141 aircraft landing had the same look as the duck with the landing gear down and flaps being deployed.
A truly wonderful image… ![]()
What was up to? Excellent timing in this image, you may indeed try and tone down the highlights a bit, though it’s not really disturbing me. The action makes the image here. Cheers, Hans
Great landing pose and both birds are in sharp focus…
Timely shot with yesterday’s FAA NOTAM software problem. Great catch and love the both birds are sharp. Well done.
Nice shot, and I love the title. The water drops on the in-flight duck adds to this shot for me. Well done getting both nice and sharp.
Great timing on this one, Dan. The action definitely makes the image.
I got caught up in being cute and neglected to say how much I like the image. Comments above covered it but I do need to add my appreciation for it. Great timing and technique – focus and sharpness are important to its success. If there is any extra canvas, I’d love to see a bit more room at the bottom but can see why there may not be.
Just a side comment on the NOTAM thing, too – fascinating that it’s now an acronym for Notice to Air Missions instead of Airmen. Political correctness is a good thing in may ways but just so awkward in others. You can’t even tell so many good jokes anymore.
